Bass-baritone Zachary Elmassian has been praised for his “terrific vocals” and notable acting abilities. A graduate of the Merola Opera Program, he  appeared in the Ohio Light Opera’s 2024 season, singing Captain von Trapp in The Sound of Music and Don Alhambra in Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Gondoliers. Most recently, he sang Mozart’s Figaro in Weimar, Germany. In fall 2024, he will appear in Indianapolis Opera's production of Il barbiere di Siviglia singing Basilio.

 

Zachary has been a resident artist with Florida Grand Opera and a young artist at Lorin Maazel’s Castleton Festival. Stage credits include the title role in Gianni Schicchi; Leporello in Don Giovanni with Lyric Opera Studio Weimar; Jeronimus in the Chicago premiere of Carl Nielsen’s Maskarade; Don Alfonso in Cosi fan tutte; Gustl in The Land of Smiles; Pooh-Bah in The Mikado; and the Pirate King in The Pirates of Penzance. He is a graduate of Northwestern University and currently resides in Michigan.
